Data Fusion of Non-destructive Testing Methods for Bridge Deck Condition Assessment

چکیده
Background: Highway agencies explore the use of non-destructive testing (NDT) for assessing condition their infrastructure in most cost-effective manner. NDTs can provide as-built construction quality, as well service assessment especially older structures where some critical information and/or maintenance records are often not available. In many cases, requires “ground true” data either calibration or validation. Surveys obtaining such is challenging structures, time consuming and costly. Aim: Objective this paper to present a fusion approach forensic investigation bridge decks, which Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) used assess current combined with Laser Scanner system verify design features. Methods: The proposed study considers using GPR based geometric measurements deck obtained from system. Such novel permits more accurately measure conditions terms thickness rebar depth deterioration. Furthermore, detection variations suggested implementation correction procedure reflection amplitude signal on true depths instead two-way travel time, commonly applied. Results: This innovative analysis provided refined delaminated areas deck. methodology was tested pre-stressed concrete Italy. Discussion: be elsewhere decks. Conclusion: merging methods particularly valuable bridges were drawing may available, there potential concern deviation between characteristics ( i.e. , quality assurance control questionable).

Concrete Bridge Deck Condition Assessment Using Robotic System Rabit
Development and implementation of RABIT (Robotics Assisted Bridge Inspection Tool) in condition assessment concrete bridge decks is described. The system uses multiple nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technologies in characterization of three most common deterioration types: rebar corrosion, delamination, and concrete degradation. The system implements four NDE technologies: electrical resistivi...
متن کاملRapid Bridge Deck Condition Assessment Using Three- Dimensional Visualization of Impact Echo Data
Seismic/ultrasonic methods can be successfully used in condition assessment of bridge decks by evaluating changes in material characteristics and detection of development of defects and zones of deterioration. The impact echo method is of special benefit in evaluation of corrosion induced deck delamination due to its nondestructive nature and ability to detect delaminated zones at various stage...
متن کاملData fusion for automated non-destructive inspection
In industrial non-destructive evaluation (NDE), it is increasingly common for data acquisition to be automated, driving a recent substantial increase in the availability of data. The collected data need to be analysed, typically necessitating the painstaking manual labour of a skilled operator. Moreover, in automated NDE a region of an inspected component is typically interrogated several times...
متن کاملHow Accurate Is Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for Bridge Deck Condition Assessment?
As Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is increasingly employed for assessing the condition of bridge decks, quantifying and controlling the quality of GPR data becomes an important challenge. This paper uses a methodology to assess the accuracy of deck condition measures, and demonstrates the methodology in a case study involving real data. The latter are generated during GPR applications on a larg...
